Artist of the Month

I was so busy I missed October, but never fear! November has an artist of the month!

PAULA MOSELEY (in her own words)

I have always loved to craft. Some of my earliest school memories are of hating math and loving the crayon box! I experimented with a few crafts while growing up: knitting, crocheting, decoupage, foiling (those of you who grew up in the 60's and 70's may remember foiling. . . as I recall, my creations were. . . um. . . pretty hideous!). I took an art class in high school, but was less than encouraged by my efforts. I was striving for all A's in school and was quite disappointed with my B in art. Yet, you just can't give up something you love.

When my daughter was born, I was a full time Mom for a while and I looked for a creative outlet. I took a three-session decorative painting class. I loved it! That class reaffirmed the fact that I love to be creative. From that point on, I always had painting and crafting supplies in my home and would much prefer crafting over cooking or cleaning! My husband refers to my crafting supplies as my "toys" and now I have a room upstairs with a nook as my "playroom". I love many types of crafts, including paper making, paper casting, card making, floral design, ribbon work and stenciling. However, painting is my favorite creative outlet. When I paint, I lose all track of time, and I love the colors and the way they change with each stroke. I guess you could say that my paints are my grown-up version of the crayon box. I'm still not fond of math!

I'm sure you'll be as impressed with Paula's work as we all are. We're so glad to have her as part of the team!

Moulton Christmas Open House

We'll be at Memories, Antiques & Ideas from now till Christmas and don't miss this coming Sunday (Nov 8th) which is Christmas Open House! Tons of sales, drawings for gift cards, new Christmas items and goodies! All the shops in downtown Moulton will be open for this festive event, don't miss it! From 1-4 this Sunday afternoon. Thanks to everyone who came to see us this weekend at the Apple Festival! We had tons of fun and in spite of the weather had a good first show.

Well fall is close and the craft fairs are in full swing. Duck Soup will be making their first appearance at the Lawrence County Apple Festival Sept 25 - 27. Handmade products will include childrens clothing, diaper bags, ladies gifts & jewelry, paintings and many other items. Come see us!

Dominibag - Crafter of the Month

My name is Katie Logan and I am the creator of Dominibag. I have always loved to craft, but it was only recently that I have really taken a serious interest in it.

I started Dominibag in 2008 with a line of simple clutches and purses. Now I also have jewelry and hair accessories. Its really more of a hobby than a source of income. I enjoy finding odd vintage pieces and making them into something you can wear.

Currently my favorite piece is "The Southern Bell" which is made from doorknobs and hemp. I also use old keys, tokens and stamps.

Besides dabbling in crafts, I manage Austin's Favorite Shoes and teach continuing education at The University of North Alabama. I recently got married and we have a little Dachshund named Maggie. We live in Florence, Alabama and both have very busy jobs. We enjoy our time together and he enjoys going to flea markets and antique malls with me to find my odd & end pieces.
